Is it safe to cycle in London as a visitor?

A guided ride makes it easier: the guide picks the route for you.

Helmets come with most of our picks. The secret London ride adds lights in winter and a reflective vest.

Not keen on traffic? A London hop on hop off bus lets you see the sights sitting down.

Hire bikes and e-bikes on your own

Santander Cycles are TfL’s hire bikes. A single ride costs from £1.65 for 30 minutes, and a Day Pass from £3.50.

You must be 18 to hire one and 14 to ride. If a bike is not back within 24 hours or is damaged, you can be charged up to £300.

None of our six tours lists e-bikes. A Santander e-bike costs £3 per 30 minutes, or £1 more per ride on a pass.

Lime e-bikes are also on the streets; check prices in its app.
