The Globe is at 21 New Globe Walk, Bankside, London SE1 9DT. The nearest Tube is London Bridge, about 9 minutes' walk.

Blackfriars and Mansion House are about 10 minutes away. Southwark is about 15. Bankside Pier is right outside, with a river bus every 20 minutes.

Globe Theatre tickets for a play

The cheapest way to see a play is to stand in the yard. The Globe sells £10 standing tickets for all shows, while they last. It also releases £5 Rush tickets each week.

The As You Like It ticket on GetYourGuide starts from €14. It is non-refundable, so book it only once your date is firm.

The yard has no roof. Plays go ahead in all weather, and the Globe sells ponchos on site.

A Shakespeare walk on Bankside

For a walk instead of a play, the Globe to Leadenhall tour starts at the Globe. It visits Borough Market and Leadenhall Market in 2.5 hours. It is not for children under 9.

Borough Market is nearby, so you can eat there before or after your visit.

Is this the original Globe?

No, today's Globe is a rebuild that opened in 1997. The Globe's own site says the first one was built in 1599.

It burned down in 1613 when a cannon set the roof alight. It was rebuilt in 1614 and closed in 1642. The new Globe stands close to the old site on Bankside.

Before you book the Globe

  1. Know the refund rules

The tour and the walk have free cancellation. The play ticket is non-refundable.

  2. Dress for the weather

The yard is open to the sky. Tours and plays go ahead in rain, and ponchos are sold on site.
